IEEE IUB SB Organizes Seminar on "Research and Teaching on Smart and Sustainable Energy Systems


IEEE IUB Student Branch and Dept. of EEE jointly organized a seminar on "Research and Teaching on Smart and Sustainable Energy Systems" on February 15, 2023, at the university campus. The speaker of the seminar was Dr. GM Shafiullah, Associate Professor, Murdoch University, Australia. In the seminar, the speaker discussed the current state of energy systems and their negative impact on the environment, emphasizing the need for sustainable and smart energy systems to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. He highlighted the importance of integrating renewable energy sources into the grid and the role of energy storage systems in smart and sustainable energy systems. He also discussed the latest developments in energy storage technologies, such as hydrogen fuel cells, and their potential to revolutionize the energy sector. The second phase of the seminar was regarding higher study opportunities at Murdoch University, Australia in the area of Smart and Sustainable Energy Systems. Dr. Shafiullah discussed how to prepare for Master's and Ph.D. programs at his university with possible funding opportunities. More than 35 students and faculty members from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) actively participated in a lively discussion with the speaker. A token of appreciation was handed over to the speaker by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Md. Kafiul Islam, Branch Counselor of IEEE IUB SB, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
